THE STORY

At a time when most of the western
world was controlled by Tiberius
Caesar from the city of Rome, Italy,
a minor uprising was underway on the
far eastern edge of the Roman Empire
in the city of Jerusalem, thousands of
miles from Rome.

There the Jewish slaves were
planning to revolt against the
Romans and King Herod, ruler
of Judea. The Roman governor of
Judea, named Pontius Pilot
ruled in Jerusalem for Herod.

The Jews had their own leader,
Caiaphas, Judge of the Jewish Court
and High Priest of The Great Temple.

A Roman army was building north
of Jerusalem for an invasion
to crush the slave revolt.

Caiaphas had his own plans
for for a secret fight against
Rome. But these plans were
going to be changed forever.
Caiaphas has learned that in the
desert not far from Jerusalem
is a man who could cure
the sick by touching them.

He spoke in an new intelligent manner.
He could bring the dead back to life.
He performed magic and miracles.
The country people loved him.
Some wanted him to be King of the Jews.

Caiaphas would have to
stop this pretender named Jesus
who was becoming a major difficulty.
Many followed Jesus into
the city on this holiday weekend.
He had twelve men who walked with him
as his voluntary slaves and bodyguards.

But not all of the twelve were
poor country people.
One man, Judas, carried the money
for everyone during their journey.
Another was a former Roman
tax collector named Matthew.

At least four were brothers.
James and John, (their mother
wanted them to be with
Jesus when he becomes
the new King), and Peter
and Andrew the fishermen.
Simon was a rebel soldier called a Zealot.
This night they would all eat and make plans.

But Jesus knew that this was not just any night -
it was the night of "The Last Supper."
